Can Filler in the Temples or the Cheekbones Lift the Face?

Let’s define this a little better. A lot of people come in saying the temple area has hollowed out with fat loss over the years and they want that filled in. The temples are located on the side of your head, behind the eyes. First of all, this is a difficult area to fill in accurately and have the filler stay in place and look appropriate. But with the use of a fat transfer, it seems to remain in place and look better. However, it doesn’t have any effect on lifting the face.

Using a fat transfer on the cheekbone areas is an entirely different thing because it can lift up the skin and face.

What is a fat transfer?

A fat transfer refers to the process of transferring living fat cells from a donor area to another area that needs filling, or volume augmentation, on the same person. Some 35% of the transferred fat remains in place as a permanent natural filler. Dr. Imber firmly believes fat transfer is the best of all available fillers. With aging, we all lose and redistribute fat padding and facial volume. Autologous fat is invaluable for volume restoration, lifting and rejuvenating the face.

What is a cheekbone augmentation?

As we age, we lose volume in our cheeks affecting facial definition and causing skin laxity. As a way to maintain a youthful appearance, Dr. Imber performs a cheek augmentation to define cheekbones, give more angularity to the face, and produce an element of a lift. There are two surgical options to enhance the cheeks, including a fat transfer and cheek augmentation with implant. Dr. Imber prefers to augment with a fat transfer since it produces a more natural result. During a fat transfer, we remove a small amount of fat from one body area and inject it into another area that needs to be filled in. The results are fantastic and natural.

If you have noticed a change in your face it could be time to schedule a consultation with Dr. Imber to learn more about what procedures you are a candidate for.
