Facelift

Located In New York City

The overarching goal during a facelift (rhytidectomy) surgery is to significantly reduce or outright eliminate sagging skin, wrinkles, and lines on the face. This surgical procedure can result in a dramatic difference in a patient’s appearance, providing smoother, tighter skin and a youthful appearance.

Beyond those primary details, however, every facelift is different because every face is different. Dr. Gerald Imber, board-certified plastic surgeon, is a pioneer in the delicate and complex art of facial plastic surgery, having successfully completed thousands of surgical treatments utilizing a wide array of unique facelift techniques.

Dr. Imber is an internationally renowned plastic surgeon and has performed over 25,000 surgical procedures. He performs a full range of cosmetic surgery procedures in his New York City practice, popularized the S-LIFT, and developed the Limited Incision Facelift Technique. He has dedicated his career to helping his patients look as good as they feel, and always strives for the most natural results. Dr. Imber’s proven anti-aging philosophy and surgical techniques have helped thousands of his patients look young throughout their entire adult life.

Which Types of Facelifts Does Dr. Imber Perform?

Dr. Imber performs all facelift techniques in order to provide the best results to his patients. No two people age the same and therefore each patient will need a devised treatment plan specific to their goals.

Dr. Imber has performed over 25,000 surgical procedures and offers tailored face lifts to each patient including but not limited to the following techniques:

Limited Incision Facelift Technique (L.I.F.T.)

Developed exclusively by Dr. Imber, the LIFT, also known as the Limited Incision or Short Scar FaceLift, has quickly become the ideal method for patients looking to improve their loose jowls, skin laxity, and nasolabial folds (the lines extending from the nose to the corners of the mouth), as well as fine-tune the angularity of the cheeks.

This facelift involves tightening the SMAS, the subcutaneous muscular aponeurosi, to help alleviate jowls, deep nasolabial folds and adds longevity to the results.

One of the most crucial advantages of the LIFT is its minimal incisions, typically only running from the sideburn to the earlobe. If necessary, they can be extended behind the ear and slightly up into the hairline. The incisions are designed to diminish over time so patients can continue wearing their hair up without feeling self-conscious.

Mini Facelift

The mini facelift uses similar incisions but is primarily for less prominent signs of aging. Like Dr. Imber’s original S-LIFT, the mini facelift can be an excellent choice for patients just starting to notice skin laxity on the lower cheeks and jaw and who desire a robust preventative treatment before these visible signs of aging become worse.

Male Facelift

Dr. Imber recognizes that men have several anatomical differences from women and have different aesthetic goals when compared to women, especially for facial plastic surgery. For a male facelift, he will typically focus on relieving nasolabial folds, eliminating jowls and upper neck laxity.

Using the C-LIFT technique, Dr. Imber will carefully make a small C-shaped incision within each sideburn. If needed, he also creates an incision under the jaw to ensure an adequate amount of skin is excised and muscle is tightened.

WHICH FACELIFT AM I A CANDIDATE FOR?

While the categories listed above can give you an idea of which facelift strategy you might be interested in, your fully customized treatment plan will need to be developed by Dr. Imber. In general, good candidates for facelifts tend to be men and women in their 40s to 60s who are in good overall health, can maintain a healthy body weight, don’t smoke or are able to quit for an extended period, and have realistic expectations.

During your initial consultation, Dr. Imber will sit down with you one-on-one and listen carefully to your facial goals. He’ll also review your medical history, examine your skin’s elasticity, and, if necessary, order imaging or testing.

If you have questions about any type of facial plastic surgery, now is a great time to ask. For example, since a facelift is not usually used to address the eyes, we might also consider combining it with other surgical procedures, like a blepharoplasty or neck lift, that correct signs of aging. It is normal for Dr. Imber to suggest adding on specific surgical procedures when appropriate. This could include but is not limited to the following surgical procedures.
