Fillers FAQ ▾

Fillers

Numerous brands are available depending on patient and physician choice. We are happy to discuss this with each patient. All modern injectables have very minimal risk of allergy. Results are visible immediately, with very little bruising or evidence of treatment.

Dr. Imber is an internationally renowned plastic surgeon and has performed over 25,000 surgical procedures. He performs a full range of cosmetic surgery procedures in his New York City practice, popularized the S-LIFT, and developed the Limited Incision Facelift Technique. He has dedicated his career to helping his patients look as good as they feel, and always strives for the most natural results.

Injectable Derma Fillers

Fillers are sterile, injectable compounds used to fill in facial folds and wrinkles. Often the same substance can be used to enlarge and enhance cheekbones, plumping up lips and softening lip lines. Fillers are a quick fix. Although there is some difference between types and brands, they are mostly hyaluronic acid, mostly do their job, and mostly last approximately 6 -12 months.

Filler Goals

Fillers are useful in treating marionette lines, those nasty lines and folds running down from the corners of the mouth, under eye circles, plump up lips and soften lip lines. Basically, the use of filler can be considered for any area with volume loss.

Filler Candidates

Almost everyone is a candidate for filler, but you must speak to an experienced provider who understands the art of injection. It is far too common that filler is misused and Dr. Imber prides himself on taking a conservative approach when using it.

Your Filler Consultation

To help us plan a safe filler treatment for you, your overall facial anatomy will be assessed. This allows us to evaluate your facial depressions and any areas that may need improvement. Based on this, Dr. Imber will determine the best treatment plan for you.

Upon arrival, we will have you provide your complete medical history, including prescriptions and allergies, to assist us in creating your treatment plan.

What to Expect During Your Filler

In general, filler is used to replenish fat loss in the targeted area. You can expect the area being treated to appear plumper. Taking this into account, each area and patient can respond differently. The fillers are injected in-office and often contain local anesthesia. We numb the areas prior to treatment to make it more comfortable. After your treatment, we apply ice to prevent any swelling or bruising.

Recovering From Your Filler

Recovery is minimal. Slight bruising can be expected, but everyone responds differently.

Who Is The Right Candidate For Fillers?

Fillers are usually the first anti-aging procedure patients request. As we age, the breakdown of collagen causes sagging, wrinkling and loss of elasticity. This volume loss can be replaced using fillers.

What Type Of Anesthesia Will I Receive?

Fillers are performed during an in-office appointment and no anesthesia is necessary. We can numb the area if you would like.

When Can You See Results?

Results can be seen immediately. I always inject fillers conservatively because you can always add more, and a natural result is the best result.

Why Do I Need A Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon?

A board-certified plastic surgeon holds the highest levels of education and training needed to deliver the best results. This qualification is not easy to achieve, so by using a board-certified plastic surgeon, you also know they meet the standards of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

How Much Do Fillers Cost?

Any questions you have regarding procedure costs can be discussed during your consultation at Dr. Imber’s office.
