Mini Facelift FAQ ▾

Mini Facelift

A Mini Facelift is the least invasive version of the Limited Incision FaceLift. A Mini Facelift focuses on redefining the cheekbones and jawline. The incision for a Mini Facelift is in the sideburn and usually continues inside the ear, and behind the earlobe. It differs from the Limited Incision Facelift primarily in the amount of skin undermining and therefore has a more rapid postoperative course.

What is a Mini Facelift?

This mini-lift has been adopted, renamed, and publicized by many surgeons. On June 4, 2009, the New York Times published a long article about the marketing of specialized facelifts, making reference to the seminal importance of my original S-LIFT and the procedures it had spawned. But be warned: A new name doesn’t make a new procedure. I am happy to have had something to do with devising and popularizing an excellent procedure, but the real beneficiaries are my patients, who understood that the new procedure would help them achieve and maintain a natural, youthful appearance.

Mini Facelift Goals

The goals of a mini facelift may be different for each individual but generally, this surgical procedure can restore early loss of facial angularity, improve nasolabial folds, marionette lines and moderate skin laxity. It can also help improve jowls, when appropriate.

Mini Facelift Candidates

Generally, a good time to schedule a consultation with Dr. Imber is when there are noticeable changes in facial angularity and/or skin laxity. Visible signs of aging include softening of cheekbones and loose skin falling toward the jawline. You may also be a candidate for a Mini Facelift if you notice the forming of nasolabial folds, the lines that connect from nostrils to corners of mouth, or marionette lines, the lines that stretch from the corners of mouth down to chin. You do not need to have sagging jowls, or a double chin to warrant thinking about a Mini Facelift or Limited Incision FaceLift.

Plastic surgery is not one size fits all. It is important to schedule a consultation with Dr. Imber to understand the best surgical procedures that can help achieve your goals.

What to expect during your mini facelift

Dr. Imber will review the entire procedure with you leading up to your surgical appointment. The Mini Facelift is one of the least invasive versions of the Limited Incision Facelift techniques. He will go through where the incisions and all details you should be aware of. The incision for a Mini Facelift is in the sideburn and usually continues inside the ear, and behind the earlobe.

Recovering From Your Mini Facelift

Recovery from a Mini Facelift can vary for each patient.

Recovering from a Mini Facelift can be similar to a Limited Incision Facelift. The incision heals in the exact same amount of time as a Limited Incision Facelift but you can expect swelling with other facelift techniques. Please expect to refrain from any activity the first 5-7 days.

Dr. Imber and his team of nurses will provide all recovery guidelines and are available to answer any questions you have.
