Neck Lift
A neck lift is a procedure that is directed at laxity of the skin of the neck. Most patients find that they are focusing on the neck without realizing that loss of elasticity starts at the top and works its way down. Gravity doesn’t just pick the neck. However, sometimes the loose, wrinkled neck skin is out of proportion with other changes. The neck lift involves an incision behind the ear and along the hairline.
Neck Lift Goals
Both men and women with noticeable aging around the neck can benefit from a neck lift. A neck lift can help to rejuvenate the appearance of the neck by getting rid of loose and wrinkled skin. Dr. Gerald Imber is a highly skilled plastic surgeon who has performed numerous neck lift procedures throughout his career. He can provide you with the natural-looking results you need.
Neck Lift Candidates
Dr. Imber always suggests scheduling a consultation so he can assess the area of concern and suggest the proper treatment plan. However, if you notice the skin around your neck is falling or is very wrinkled, it may be time to discuss your treatment options. Dr. Imber rarely performs a neck lift without a facelift because the two areas fit together like puzzle pieces. The neck lift targets just that area and nothing above the chin. It is critical to address the skin on the face and neck to ensure the most natural results.
What to Expect During Your Neck Lift
During your neck lift, the skin is lifted up entirely from ear to ear and tightened. Microsuction is performed at the same time. A neck lift usually requires an incision under the chin as well to tighten the platysma muscle bands. During your consultation and appointments leading up to surgery, Dr. Imber and his team of nurses will review all details to ensure you are completely prepared. His office is also always available by phone or email.
Recovering From Your Neck Lift
After your neck lift procedure, the neck will be bandaged and wrapped in order to help manage swelling. Dr. Imber and his nurses will review post-operative instructions to help you through the recovery period. Most can resume normal activities 10 days post-surgery, with full recovery at 6 to 7 months. Everyone recovers differently and Dr. Imber will advise each patient accordingly.

Words From Dr Imber!
“As one advances in years, a face and neck lift often become necessary. Less frequently, only the skin on the neck needs tightening. In these circumstances, an isolated neck lift is performed through incisions behind the ears. Remember a neck lift alone does nothing above the jaw line, so it’s often best to combine a neck lift with some sort of facelift.“

What Is A Neck Lift?
A neck lift is a procedure that improves the laxity of the skin of the neck. Most patients find they are focusing on the neck without realizing that loss of elasticity starts at the top and works its way down. This surgical procedure can tighten and smooth out the skin in this area.
What Are The Benefits Of A Neck Lift?
A neck lift can help rejuvenate the appearance of the neck by getting rid of loose and wrinkled skin. Right now, we are constantly looking down or at a screen without even realizing we are creating these creases in the neck area. Pair this with the natural progression of aging skin, and your neck area can begin to look like a turkey. A neck lift can help improve visible signs of aging.
What Type Of Anesthesia Will I Receive?
Local anesthesia with sedation. Dr. Imber’s board-certified anesthesiologist will call you the night before surgery to review all guidelines necessary for the morning of your surgery. Prior to this, Dr. Imber’s nurses will advise on medical clearance and discuss anything else you need to know before your surgery. Most patients receive local anesthesia with sedation and Dr. Imber’s anesthesiologist is on site the day of your surgery.
How Long Will Recovery Take?
Dr. Imber and his team of nurses will review in depth the recovery process. You will be provided with a thorough list of post-operative instructions to help you through the recovery period. Most patients return to work in 10 days or less. Once the swelling has fully dissipated, your final results should be visible.
Are There Any Non-Invasive Alternatives?
Once your skin is already loose in the area, the only way to correct it is with surgery. There are less invasive options that Dr. Imber recommends as preventative and maintenance measures, but nothing that will completely correct the issue like surgery. It is best to schedule a consultation with Dr. Imber to discuss treatment options that are best for you.
